Built on a proper frame

Footings dug about four feet deep, 6x6 posts, and joists at 12" centres where the decking calls for it. It is the part you never see, and the part that decides how long a deck lasts.

Pool deck — structural rebuild and extension

The decking around a pool taken back to the ground and rebuilt bigger, with new footings and posts underneath it.

  • Removed the old decking and railings, keeping the section at the patio door so the house stayed usable.
  • Dug post holes about four feet deep and set concrete footings with post saddles.
  • New 6x6 structural support posts.
  • Reframed around the pool, widening the far end for seating.
  • New decking throughout, and railings using 5 1/4" deck boards as vertical pickets.
  • New lattice panels to close in and finish underneath.

Every board and railing replaced, new stairs, and two custom gates so the dogs have a safe place to be outside.
